Parent Interview
After conducting my parent interview, I realized that I don't exactly see eye to eye with my friend and it was such a great opportunity to recognize how important my body language and tone of voice is when talking with parents. It is so important to realize that we may have our own biases and opinions about what we think is "right" when it comes to child development, but we cannot give the impression that we are not open to others' ideas. I was also grateful that I had my questions written beforehand and knew where I wanted to go with my line of questioning, instead of going into the interview unprepared. Of course, if the parent wanted to go somewhere else, I would have to be open to that as well, all the while being aware of my reactions. All in all, I feel like this interview went well and that I remained professional and focused while still caring about the interaction with the parent and well-being of the child.
